MODERN WORLD DOCUMENTARIES

Your assignment is to create an iMovie that describes the 10 most important ideas, events, and discoveries of the "modern" world (Unit 5). Together, these important developments will show what was so new about the "modern" world. When we use the word modern, we do not mean today's world, although today's world is based on these new developments. We mean the time period of the Industrial Age, from 1750 to the start of World War I in 1914. Once these new discoveries and ideas took place in the world, there was no going back!
Directions. Following these directions in the right order without skipping steps is part of your grade!
  1. Look back through your notes and the chapters for Unit 5 that we have done so far.
  2. Begin a list of ideas, events, and discoveries that seemed to change EVERYTHING FOREVER!! The list should be as long as possible, you will narrow it down later.
  3. With each entry to your list, describe what it is and what was so important about it.
  4. Your group will compare lists and agree on five ideas, events and discoveries that seem the most important.
  5. Begin creating a documentary in iMovie that will teach your audience about the most important developments of the modern age that changed the world forever. Include pictures, narration, text and music in your documentary. The pictures must be FROM THE TIME PERIOD and follow copyright laws.
  6. We will add more developments to this documentary as we continue through Unit 5.
  7. Present your documentary to the class. We will have an awards ceremony for our documentaries (think: Sundance Film Festival or the Oscars!) so go the extra mile and do your best! Unfinished documentaries = automatic 50%.

Have fun, and may the most imaginative, creative, and insightful team win!!
